OCEANALPHA

OCEANALPHA

Founded in 2010, OceanAlpha is the leading Unmanned Surface Vehicles /Autonomous Surface Vehicles company in the world. Conpany have more than 200 engineers and hold 402 pieces of USV related patents. Today, the products are redefining the way of data acquisition, life-saving, auto-piloting and swam controlling in the marine industry. We’re devoted to helping professionals in, for example, water sampling, hydrography survey, patrol & drowning rescue accomplish their work safer, faster, and with greater efficiency than ever before…

Hydrographic Survey USV

hydro survey L25

Hydrographic survey is the most common and well-developed field in which unmanned surface vehicles are applied. Such surveys usually take long sail time and constant back and forth round-turns, posting significant challenges to the safety and wellness of surveyors.
The autonomous navigation system of our Hydrography survey USVs can release personal from such repeated, tedious works. Besides, with close cooperation with instrument manufacturers, our USVs are designed to provide the best support for instruments, such as single beam echo sounder, multibeam echo sounder, side-scan sonar, and ADCP to acquire high-quality data. Unique hull design, low noise engine, and advanced navigation algorithm are the core technologies that keep us leading in the industry.

Offshore Wind Farm

windfarmThe use of a USV can assist in surveying a wind farm to obtain sufficient and reliable information on the nature of the seabed to permit a safe and economic design, the installation and maintenance, which helps developers achieve minimum investments and the highest efficiency. Tailings Dam Bathymetry Survey

Tailing-Dam-SurveyOceanalpha’s autonomous bathymetric survey boat has been applied in the mining industry for tailings dam pond or tailing storage facility (TSF) surveys. All you need to do is set up the survey way-points and the drone boat will go automatically with GPS navigation and acquire online bathymetric data. USV survey technology has been proved to be a great alternative to replace traditional manned workboats, especially the surveys which are repeated periodically or in hazardous water. Generating quality data as well as reducing the running cost and saving human lives makes unmanned boat an ideal solution to mining companies when they make survey decisions.

Oceanographic survey

Oceanographic-surveySo, what is the next step for USV technology? Developing larger, longer endurance USVs and taking them beyond shallow waters. OceanAlpha has continued its quest to develop autonomous vessels, integrating them with multibeam sonar, sub-bottom profilers, side scan sonar, CTD, SVP, and LiDAR capabilities for the oceanographic survey community. OceanAlpha’s USVs have been placed with lead users in the markets and have been applied from coastal oceanographic surveying to open sea areas, including the Antarctic region. Improved efficiency and safety will be a driving factor behind the acceptance of USVs for this application. Coastal and inland applications that require extensive surveying in shallow waters makes the USV an ideal choice. As USV-based surveying solutions become more established, more and more traditional oceanographic survey tasks will be completed by USVs.

Oil & Gas

Oil-gasRobotics and underwater vehicles have been used in the oil and gas industry for decades. Without the use of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), the industry would be far less efficient than it is today. In recent years, unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) were introduced to the industry and offered a variety of solutions that aided in lowering costs and improving the efficiency of offshore operations. OceanAlpha has been working with oil and gas customers to provide innovative USV solutions that meet the requirements of the offshore surveying sectors. Our USV, capable of conducting subsea positioning, surveying and environmental monitoring, and can be integrated with a variety of offshore payload combinations including: USBL, ADCP, CTD, Multibeam Sonar, and sub-bottom profilers. OceanAlpha USVs can also be utilized in the patrol missions around drilling platforms.

Water Sampling and Monitoring

Water-Sampling-and-MonitoringOceanAlpha makes USV boats for water quality professionals that sample, monitor, or survey large areas of water surfaces. Traditional methods require at least two technicians in a full-sized boat, going from site to site to collect samples or make measurements. The application of unmanned boat reduces the amount of time, labor and equipment needed to collect water quality data. Our agencies have seen more than 6 times of improvements in efficiency when working with USVs, while simultaneously reducing risk by keeping technicians and full-sized vessels on shore.

Water Discharge Measurement

Water-Discharge-MeasurementOceanAlpha’s autonomous hydrographic surveying boat has been applied to the mining industry for tailing dam ponds and tailing storage facilities (TSFs) and has been utilized in more common applications such as lakes, rivers, reservoirs and oceans. Set up the survey way-points and the boat will automatically begin surveying and acquiring online bathymetric data using its built-in GPS navigation system. USV surveying technology has been proven to be a great alternative to replace traditional manned surveying techniques, especially those that are repeated periodically or in hazardous water. Generating quality data, cost reduction and saving human lives make the OceanAlpha solution more appealing to mining companies when they make survey decisions.

Surveillance

surveilanceThere has been an increase in the use of autonomous patrol boats in extreme environments for reconnaissance and surveillance where demands for precision, endurance, and reliability are paramount. Maritime and border force customers work with us to develop unmanned patrol boats. At OceanAlpha, we have experience working with and developing various interfaces for propulsion systems, including outboard motors, diesel oil propellers, and water jets for high speed operations. Our USV is fitted with a high-resolution infrared camera, an electro-optical pod, 4G radar, AIS and a loudspeaker. It is an alternative to conventional maritime assets for port protection as well as the monitoring of specific areas or the observation of events too hazardous for humans.

Search & Rescue

search-rescueThe safety of rescuers is a significant issue and must be ensured in any circumstance, including during maritime search and rescue operations. Rescuers are forced to adapt to extreme conditions or must suspend operations due to external factors quite often. However, rescue response time is a major factor in the success of these types of operations, due to the reduced survival time of victims. USV assets can complement the role of search and rescue (SAR) teams because of their ability to operate in dangerous scenarios and under adverse environmental conditions without risking the rescuer’s lives. The OceanAlpha USV is a high-speed autonomous vessel that can assist SAR teams in detecting, locating, and rescuing humans that are in danger. It can be equipped with various tools for saving human lives such as life rafts, buoys, or even remote controlled flotation devices.
